What is the federation Euro-Budo and where are its roots?

Because of the cultural split between Flamish and Walonish regions ;back in the seventies, a Flamish wing was formed in the unitarist federation Euro-Budo.  The number of people who were practising sports like Judo;goshindo,Jiu Jitsu and Karate, counted on Flamish side about 350 members at the time.  This number expanded quickly and in 1975, the board
demanded recognition by the board of Physical Education ,Sport and Outdoors(BLOSO).This demand was approved on January 1st 1976 and Euro Budo vzw. got finally recognition from Bloso.

The federation worked very hard on its structure and the education of its teachers. That's why members continuously increased ,but also 'cause of the liberal attitude of the board.  This attitude debouched into the foundation of a overall administration department: De Vlaamse Vechtsport Associatie vzw(V.V.A.); therefore little federations got the chance to be recgnized by BLOSO.  This foundation became a fact on January 1st; theV.V.A. started with 5 federations. The cofoundationers were beside Euro Budo ;the federation Aikido,Kendo,Taekwondo and Wrestling.

At the moment the V.V.A.vzw exists of 7 federations and counts about 6000 members where from 40% belongs to the Euro Budo vzw federation. Hapkido, Karate(compition form semi-contact Karate) Nin -Tau,Sambo/Judo,Seni Silat Lincah, Tai-shin-do, Goshindo, Jiu-Jitsu, Tai Jutsu and Kobujutsu are all sports who can be practised at Euro Budo.

Semi-contact Karate (since 1981 practised at the federation) is securitywise the most safe competitive sport of all our disipline; despite rumours!
